Nigeria Top List Of African Countries Fighting Corruption While Somalia Remain Most Corrupt in Africa

In a report released by Transparency International, Nigeria top the list of  countries that have shown improvement in Fighting corruption while Somalia still maintain it status as the most corrupt country in the world. Latest Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) shows South Sudan, Equatorial Guinea, and Burundi at the bottom of the list despite the United Nations decision to fight corruption globally. Other African countries that shown improvement in fighting corruption are Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Guinea, Uganda, Liberia, Cameroon, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, and Mali.  Rwanda was ranked 4th as the least corrupt country in Africa and the first in East Africa.  The CPI Score relates to perceptions of the degree of corruption and ranges between 100 (highly clean) and 0 (highly corrupt). Inspector General of Police Commence Distribution of Over 13 Billion Naira to 7,000 Disabled Police Officers and Next of Kin of Deceased Officers

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba,  has commenced the distribution of cheques to cover Insurance benefits of officers who lost their lives while in service, as well as those who suffered various forms of life-threatening injuries while on active duty. The total sum of cheques presented to about Seven Thousand families of deceased officers and those injured or rendered disabled in the line of duty between 2012 and 2020 amounts to over Thirteen Billion Naira.   The IGP while reiterating the value of human life and wholeness, emphasized that prompt payment of insurance and other benefits due to officers who have met with some misfortunes due to the risky nature of policing in our contemporary environment and unforeseen hazards of policing, would greatly boost their morale and ensure they put in their best in service to the nation. Bill Wanting Reps Addressed as 'Representative', not 'Honourable' Scales 2nd Reading at the House of Representatives

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila, is seeking to have members of the House addressed formally as 'Representative'. This will mean addressing a member, for instance, as Representative Femi Gbajabiamila, Representative Nkeiruka Onyejeoacha and Representative Sada Soli Jibia. Members of the House currently carry the title, 'Honourable', the same prefix that is also used by many other office and non-office holders in Nigeria. On Thursday, a bill sponsored by Speaker Gbajabiamila to officially address members as Representative, as opposed to Honourable, passed second reading on the floor in Abuja. He co-sponsored the bill with the Chief Whip of the House, Rep. Mohammed Monguno. The long title of the amendment bill reads, "A Bill for an Act to Amend the Legislative Houses (Powers and Privileges) Act, 2017; and for Related Matters (HB.2149)."
