Pope Francis Arrive Canada To Offer Apology To Indigenous Community Over Cultural Genocide Commit By Catholic Church

Pope Francis has arrived at Canada to apologize for one of the catholic church’s role in residential schools that tried to erase Indigenous culture, and where thousands of children died.

The visit comes after years of demand from Indigenous leaders and leading politicians for a Vatican apology about the schools, which were designed to erase Indigenous culture and language by forcibly separating children from their families to assimilate them into Western ways. 

Some Indigenous leaders also who described the event as "Cultural Genocide"  stated that it will fill in one of the biggest remaining pieces in Canada’s efforts at reconciliation over a brutal education system.

Senator (Comrade) Shehu Sani, former Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the 8th National Assembly, has weighed in the recent visits by some prominent northern politicians to former President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State.
